Django à Gogo brings together world-class musicians from France, Canada, the U.S., and beyond for four unique concerts, reinterpreting and evolving Reinhardt’s repertoire through improvisation and cross-cultural collaboration. Join pianist and composer Charu Suri with Premik Russell Tubbs for a beautiful evening featuring her original raga jazz compositions and songs from the American Songbook.

CHARU SURI is a pianist and composer who treads fearlessly between genres, blending several styles and fusing Indian ragas with more traditional jazz. 

Born in South India, she was a piano prodigy performing in various concert halls at an early age. Charu’s most recent album, RAGS & RAGAS, was recorded with John Patitucci on the double bass, Steve Gadd and Joe Lastie on the drums, and debuted recently at #3 on the iTunes jazz charts, and reached #2 in Kenya. Her previous albums charted #1 in India in both the jazz and overall albums charts. 

With mood-invoking ragas (to be played according to the time of day) for many of her compositions, she weaves techniques and sounds from several places including India, Europe, and Africa. 

Her work has won numerous awards. She received eight nominations in the International Singer Songwriters Association (ISSA) Awards in 2023,and was named Entertainer of the Year (Gold) by ISSA at its annual awards ceremony in Atlanta. Her VERONA WALTZ from her previous album, RAGAS & WALTZES was awarded Best Jazz Song in North America at the Intercontinental Music Awards in 2023. 

Charu also became the first Indian artist to collaborate with Preservation Hall Jazz Band in New Orleans on her latest album, RAGAS & WALTZES, that features drummer Joe Lastie. Previously, she has released “The Book of Ragas” and “The New American Songbook” at Carnegie Hall. She performed at Carnegie Hall for the fourth time on April 5 2024 and made history. On May 13, 2023, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra performed her work for the very first time at NJPAC in the family-friendly “Hooray for Bollywood” concert and will also perform arrangements of hers of popular Bollywood tunes.

She is a voting member of the Recording Academy.

Carrie Grossman (Dayashila), MA, sings soothing, heavenly chants and is a lifelong student of the mystical traditions. For over 20 years, she has studied the art of sacred sound, guiding people into the sublime realms of the heart through her concerts, workshops, and retreats.

At the age of 21, Carrie first traveled to India where she was introduced to kirtan (call and response mantra chanting). The beauty of the practice inspired her to sing, but due to shyness and self-doubt, 10 years went by before the music within her emerged. It wasn’t until a difficult life period that she began to write songs and play the harmonium. She has since produced several albums, including Soma-Bandhu: Friend of the Moon (2010), The Ram Sessions (2016), Pranam (2017), and Homeward (2019).  

Carrie began her journey as a scholar, earning degrees in Religious Studies from Brown University (BA) and Naropa University (MA), but ultimately she longed to experience the teachings directly. This desire led her to study with some of the world’s great masters and to receive further training and certification in yoga, mind-body medicine, and the healing arts.

Also a prolific writer, Carrie is the former editor of Common Ground magazine. She is deeply influenced by her longtime spiritual teacher Amma, and the many guides and mentors she’s had along the way.

Subramaniam composed the piece “Shanti Priya” for the Mariinsky Ballet.The release of his albums, including Global Fusion in 1999 have brought Subramaniam widespread critical acclaim, and popularity for his advanced playing. He founded and directs the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival, a festival based in India. In 2004, he completed a world tour with the festival, including concerts in the US (Lincoln Center, New York), the Asian Pacific region including in Perth, Australia, at the Esplanade, Singapore, the Sri Dewan Penang Hall in Penang and the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Performing with Subramaniam at the festival in January 2005 were violin maestro Arve Tellefsen, the Oslo Camerata, jazz legends Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Al Jarreau, Earl Klugh and Ravi Coltrane.In September 2007, Subramaniam premiered and played “The Freedom Symphony” with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, Warrenton Chorale and Carnatic percussionists, which led to a strongly favourable ovation and an encore piece “Flight of the Humble Bee”. Subramaniam is on the advisory board of composer A. R. Rahman's KM Music Conservatory in Kodambakkam, Chennai.

The Joni Project is quite simply the finest and most musically sophisticated tribute to Joni on the scene today. For this special show, The Joni Project celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the release of Court and Spark, performing the album in its entirety plus a selection of other Joni favorites. The band is fronted by Long Island's remarkable multi-instrumentalist and singer Katie Pearlman, who impressively plays Joni's songs in their original open guitar tunings, and also includes jazz and jam band mainstays Premik Russell Tubbs (saxophone & flute) Dave Berg (guitar), Dan Ehrlich (bass), Alan Lerner (drums), Mark Mancini (keyboards), Steve Finklestein (percussion), and Victoria Faiella (backing vocals).
